THE CHURCH (continued)
We believe that the true members of the body of Christ, the Church, can rejoice in the assurance of their salvation through the testimony of God's Word and will exhibit in their lives the character of Christlikeness, such as righteousness, holiness, and love (1 JN 5:11-13; ROM 8:15-16; TIT 2:11-14; MAT 7:20-23; JN 13:35; 1 JN 2:5-6, 3:14; EPH 2:8-1 0; JAS 2:17, 26; GAL 5:22-23).
We believe in the operation of the gifts of the Spirit in the Church for the edification of the body and the glory of the Lord Jesus Christ (MK 16:17-18; JN 14:12-14; 1 CDR 12:14; ROM 12:4-8; EPH 4:7-13).
We believe that the True Church of Jesus Christ is the One Church of history, begun in Pentecost and different from Israel, related not by organizational ties but by a vital life in the Spirit founded upon the basic doctrinal faith of the apostles continued through the ages by the superintendence of God. There is one Father, one Lord, one Spirit, one faith, one body, one baptism, and one hope of calling (EPH 4:1-16; ACT 2:41; GAL 1:8-9; JUDE).
